A LECHLADE vet and his son will be completing a 100-mile bike ride in support of charity Send a Cow.

Dilwyn and Gwilym Evans will be cycling along the same route Olympic champion Bradley Wiggins completed during the Olympic road race.

The charity challenge is part of Prudential Ride London's cycle festival which takes place in August.

The father and son team are raising money for a charity that supplies farmers in Africa with the animals and knowledge to become self sufficient in food production.

Dilwyn works at the Bridge Veterinary Clinic in Lechlade, Fairford and Highworth. He has supported Send a Cow in the past.

"As a vet, I thought I would support a charity that uses food producing animals to help people in need," he said. "I took up cycling after I saw how much Gwilym enjoyed it. I enjoy the training."

His son, Gwilym, 19, said: "I enjoy cycling with my dad when at home and I go out with the university cycling club at Cardiff during term time."
