A TEAM from the Cirencester headquarters of Mitsubishi Motors raised nearly £350 with a charity car wash on the weekend.

The group held the fundraiser at the Mitsubishi Specialist Operations centre at Love Lane Industrial Estate to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Women from the town's Mitsubishi centre are getting ready to run Race for Life in Cirencester Park on July 20 and organised the car wash to boost funds.

Motorists enjoyed tea, coffee and home-made cakes while they waited for their cars to be cleaned inside and out. A grand total of £344 was raised on the day.

Organiser of the Race for Life team Verity May said she, and the team, were so pleased with how the car wash went.

"It was a great day and we’re really grateful to the support from the people of Cirencester," she said. "So many people turned up to have their cars cleaned and helped raise money for a worthy cause. We were certainly kept busy and we’d like to thank everyone who supported us by making cakes or donating buckets and sponges."

The women ran Race for Life in the town last year and are hoping to beat the £1,600 they raised last year.

Cirencester Event Manager for Race for Life Michelle Leighton said it was fantastic that Mitsubishi are getting involved again this year.

"We really appreciate their continued support. With their fundraising from last year and this year’s ambition to raise more, their contribution to Cancer Research UK will be really appreciated," she said.

The team will be putting their best foot forward along with five of their friends and family.

Cirencester-based companies Spot on Supplies and Wilcox Wash donated buckets, sponges and other materials for the car wash while Broxton Industries Ltd provided parking on the day.
