CIRENCESTER space rock band Opusweed has announced that they will be playing at this year's Phoenix Festival in town.

The punk music band has been booked up for gigs all across Britain for the summer and members are even in talks with a promoter who is interested in the group playing in Germany next year.

Opusweed will be playing at the town's second annual Phoenix Festival in the Abbey Grounds on Saturday, August 30.

Band manager Sue Cottrell said it was a great pleasure to have been chosen to play at the popular music festival.

The Phoenix Festival features local bands from all across Wiltshire and Gloucestershire. Last year, the smash hit festival saw almost 17,000 people attend the weekend-long event in the town centre. As well as music, the festival also offers local food and drink, entertainment for children, comedy and activities such as trampolining and skateboarding.

As well as playing in their home town, Opusweed will be headlining at a gig in Oswestry this July and will be playing at the Underworld in London in August.

Opusweed members are also looking at doing a music video for their website and will also be inviting young Cirencester musicians to attend a practice and see the band in action.
