A GROUP of seven men from the Cotswolds will be cycling from one major world landmark to another in just two days later this month.

The friends, all aged between 28-30 and who all went to Kingshill School together, will be taking on the 200-mile challenge to raise money for charities Prostate Cancer UK and the North Cerney School Big Project.

They will begin pedalling from Big Ben in London on July 10 and will end up at the Eiffel Tower in Paris two days later on July 12.

One team member Rob Hopkins said the group had wanted to do something challenging but which they could still enjoy.

"I didn't realise how hard it would be," admitted Rob, who grew up in Daglingworth. "We train about two or three times a week and the longest cycle ride I've done so far is 50 miles which was really hard."

The group is made up of Rob Hopkins, Will Bowness, Bryn Rettie, Alex Phillips, Ed Wenbridge, Luke Whitaker and Rich Hill. The team has received a great deal of support from catering company The Cotswold Kitchen as well as Willobys Furniture.

"We chose the North Cerney School Big Project because it seems like a really great cause and also both Bryn's nieces go to the school," said Rob. "We're trying to raise £800 overall and we're well on our way. We've got £600 at the moment."

The North Cerney School Big Project is a small village project working to update and modernise the old Victorian primary school. The charity Prostate Cancer UK was chosen because several of the team members have had friends and family members affected by the disease.
