A CIRENCESTER arts centre is the best entertainment venue in the town according to judges of a town business competition.

The New Brewery Arts picked up the accolade at the Cirencester Business Awards ceremony, organised by the town’s Chamber of Commerce.

NBA prides itself on offering entertainment of all kinds and for all ages seven days a week. They received the Entertainment Experience of the Year award in May this year.

“People think of entertainment so often as sitting down and watching something but we let people take part in other things, such as visiting exhibitions, taking part in crafts and more,” said Annie Gould of NBA.

The centre, based at Brewery Court in the town centre, allows people to visit art exhibitions, take part in samba classes, join a choir, enjoy children’s arts and crafts and even try their hand at stone carving.

“We also have the very successful Brewery Blues in the theatre,” added Annie. “We’re the only place in Cirencester that offers entertainment every single day.”

Annie went on to say that the team at NBA had no idea they were going to win the brand new award, organised for the first time this year.

“We entered because we were keen to be seen as an important part of the community. It was so lovely winning the award. It was wonderful to get it on behalf of all the people working at New Brewery Arts,” Annie said. “From the Saturday employees who work in the cafe to the people who set up the Brewery Blues speakers in the theatre.”
