POLICE are appealing for information after an accident near Wotton-under-Edge which saw a young cyclist from the Malmesbury area seriously injured in a collision with a car.
It happened at about 10.35am on Friday on the Alderley road between Alderley and Hillesley.
A 20-year-old female cyclist was travelling downhill out of Alderley when she was in collision with a blue Citroen C1 driven by a 36-year-old man from the Gloucester area who was heading in the opposite direction.
The cyclist suffered serious head and pelvic injuries and was airlifted to Southmead Hospital, Bristol. Her condition was later said to be critical but stable.
The road was closed for around five hours.
Any witnesses are asked to contact Gloucestershire police on 101, quoting incident number 162 of June 20 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
