A TEAM of students from Cirencester College are taking part in a cycle challenge through central France this summer for charity.
The eleven students will tackle a 500km cycle ride along the Loire Valley to raise money for Parkinson’s UK.
Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurological disorder which effects one in five people in the UK today, and causes symptoms such as poor co-ordination, problems with handwriting and tremors in the arms.
One of the team has a grandfather who suffers from the disease which inspired them to raise awareness and money to fund support and research into treatments for Parkinson’s.
The students have spent the year fundraising including running cake sales, raffles, crossword competitions and carrying out sponsored exercise bike rides during parent's evenings.
The cycle ride takes place from July 4-12. Anyone who would like to sponsor the students can send donations to Kate Lawson at Cirencester College, Stroud Road, Cirencester, GL7 1XA.
