A THIRD man has died following a crash on the M4 early on Monday..

Two were pronounced dead at the scene after a van collided with a lorry on a slip road at junction 17 just after 4.30am.

Another two were taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with serious injuries, but one died last night. The other remains in a critical condition.

One of the victims was identified as Martin Williams, 36, of Trecynon, South Wales. Formal identification of the other two is expected in the next few days.

A fifth man, who was driving the van, was taken to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon with minor injuries but was released the same morning.

The crash, close to Stanton St Quintin, closed the motorway for several hours.

Police arrested a man aged 37 from Aberdare on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and later released him on bail for further inquiries.
