A NEWLY transformed Cirencester store has officially re-launched with a donation to a town charity earlier this week.

The Tesco Extra store at Kingsmeadow has been bustling with builders, decorators and extra staff over the past few months, all working to completely transform the store.

Shoppers will be able to enjoy an improved clothing department, a transformed fresh fish and meat counter, and a bakery which will offer freshly made pancakes.

Customers can also benefit from a brand new family-friendly Giraffe restaurant which is already busy with hungry shoppers.

The official re-launch of the store took place on Monday, June 9 when the Tesco store also made a donation to Cirencester charity The Churn Project.

Fundraiser Ailsa O'Connor joined store manager Justin Sketchley and his team to cut the ribbon to the store before being presented with a £500 donation.

"Everyone at the Churn Project is delighted with this recognition," said Ailsa. "We've got lots of exciting plans coming up to extend our work in the local community so this money couldn't have come at a better time."

The Churn Project is a charity which aims to reduce isolation and exclusion while also opening up opportunities for the most vulnerable people in the community. It provides all its services for free or at a low cost, offering everything from older people's drop-in groups to computer courses for the unemployed.

Cirencester Tesco Extra manager Justin said: "The Churn Project does such an important job in the community helping those that need it the most, so we were delighted to be able to offer them our £500 donation and invite them along to our re-launch celebrations."

Customers enjoyed a slice of cake and a glass of champagne at the Monday re-launch.

"The store is looking great," added Justin. "We are looking forward getting feedback from our customers. I hope they love it as much as we do."

Re-launch celebrations continue this Saturday, June 14 with a Father’s Day workshop where children have the chance to paint a mug to give to their dad on the big day.
