A CIRENCESTER restaurateur has challenged other restaurants in the town to be the first to secure the 2014 Beaujolais Nouveau wine when it first becomes available in France.
The charity challenge will be raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support and will see Kiean Glynn from Cirencester's Le Beaujolais drive to France in a race to get his hands on the wine first.
He has received support from Mitsubishi in Cirencester and will be serving the wine at a celebration dinner at 6pm on November 20 this year.
Kiean said: "It is a marvellous event. My co-driver and I plan to get the Ferry to France, the day before release, sleep en-route, before arriving at the vineyard in Beaujolais that made us so welcome last year."
"We hope others in our trade and many local businesses will take part by offering sponsorship, auction and raffle items, and make a significant contribution to this wonderful charity."
