CRICKLADE residents are being asked to conjure up exciting floral displays as part of a horticultural competition set up by the town’s council.
This week marks the start of the Cricklade in Bloom competition, which will be judged between August 4 and 15, and asks people to create visually stunning floral decorations.
As well as the floral challenge for adults, there is a competition for children, which invites them to create World Cup 2014 or Tour de France themed containers.
Charlotte Rogers-Jones, Cricklade Town Council clerk, said: “If you would like the judges to visit an area (back garden or individual property) not visible from the road, please let us know immediately to be added to the judges’ itinerary.”
The categories for the Cricklade in Bloom competition are best hanging basket, best container, best front garden, best front door, best florally decorated public house and best florally decorated business.
The two categories for the children’s competition are under 8s plus under 16s and completed entry forms for it must be returned by July 18.
Children’s containers can be left at the council offices on Friday, July 25 or Monday, July 28.
