FORMER Farmor’s School student Garry Newton will cycle 950 miles from London to Barcelona in just nine days to raise money for vulnerable children.
He will join 25 colleagues and clients of his London-based employers, business IT company Attenda, that will leave Marble Arch on Friday, June 6.
The ride will tackle some of the most difficult cycling terrain in Europe, through the Pyrenees and along the Spanish coast before arriving in Barcelona.
They aim to raise £25,000 in aid of Kids Company, a charity that supports 38,000 vulnerable inner city children every year.
“I’ve done plenty of training and spent plenty of miles in the saddle,” said Garry who grew up in Down Ampney. With more than 3,000km under his belt in preparation, he joked he was already feeling saddle sore.
“It is by far the biggest challenge I’ve ever set foot on,” he said.
