POLICE are targeting World Cup fans in a summer clampdown on drink driving.
Launched this week, the campaign will target younger drivers and those staying up late top watch the football.
Wiltshire Police, which is joining forces with neighbouring Gloucestershire and Avon and Somerset, is increasing roadside enforcement.
Insp Steve Cox, head of roads policing, said: "We will be conducting our operations 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“We aren't just targeting those who drink and drive straight away, we'll also be apprehending people who risk driving the morning after without allowing themselves time to recover from the effects of alcohol."
The campaign runs throughout June and aims to bring home the serious consequences of being caught for drink driving, which can include a minimum year’s driving ban and a fine of up to £5,000.
A dedicated hotline for people to call if they suspect someone is driving over the alcohol limit has been set up by Wiltshire Police on 101.
