A MASTERPLAN by Dyson to double the size of its Malmesbury headquarters comes under scrutiny next week.

The company’s application for outline planning permission to build new lab space, extra car parking and access roads is set to be decided at Wiltshire Council’s northern area planning committee on Wednesday.

The proposals, which are part of a long term £250 million expansion that is expected to see up to 3,000 new jobs, include new roundabouts at the top of Tetbury Hill and on the A429 junction with Filands.

News of the proposed expansion has been welcomed, but concerns have been expressed over rush hour congestion, parking problems for neighbouring residents and businesses as well as extra traffic through the town centre.

Earlier this year Dyson revealed conditions were so cramped engineers were having to work in corridors.

A detailed application for the first phase of the development has also been submitted.
