A WOMAN was taken to hospital with serious injuries earlier today after a three car crash on the A417.
The road at Crickley Hill between the Air Balloon roundabout and the A46 at Brockworth was closed in both directions for nearly four hours following the crash at about 9.25am.
The incident involved a silver Volkswagen Golf registered to Swindon, a silver Ford Focus registered to Drybrook and a white Ford Focus registered to Hereford.
Police officers and paramedics attended the scene. The fire service also attended after one vehicle caught fire.
A woman driving one of the vehicles suffered serious back injuries and had to be taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
Another female driver had to be taken to the same hospital with minor injuries.
The re-opened at around 1.05pm. There was some damage to the carraigeway which was cleared up beforehand.
