OVERNIGHT work has started at junction 18 of the M4 and is expected to continue for the next two weeks.

Improvements to slip roads and resurfacing are part of the works which started on Monday of this week and are expected to last until June 6.

Daily diversions will be in place from 8pm-6am with all road users facing detours via the A420 to either junction 17 or 19 of the M4.

The work will take place between 8pm and 6am from Monday evening until Saturday morning. It includes resurfacing the road, repainting white lines and replacing road studs on the M4 junction 18 slip roads and roundabout.

During the work road users will be directed to the following diversion routes:

M4 junction 18 westbound exit slip road closure.

Road users will be advised to leave the M4 at junction 17, then follow the A350, A420, and rejoin the A46 at Cold Ashton.

M4 junction 18 eastbound exit slip road closure.

Road users will be advised to leave the M4 at junction 19, then follow the M32, A4174, A420 and rejoin the A46 at Cold Ashton.

M4 junction 18 westbound entry slip road closure.

Road users travelling southbound will be directed to leave the A46 at Cold Ashton and follow the A420, A4174 and then M32 before rejoining the M4 at junction 19.

M4 junction 18 eastbound entry slip road closure.

Road users travelling northbound will be directed to leave the A46 at Cold Ashton and follow the A420 and A350 before rejoining the M4 at junction 17.

Road users travelling southbound will be directed to follow the same route in reverse.
