THE family of a man who was killed on a rail crossing near Stroud have paid tribute to a “fantastic father and husband”.

Paul Martin, 37, was was struck by a Swindon to Gloucester passenger train while riding his motorcycle at the Frampton Mansell foot crossing on Sunday, May 11.

Medics treated Mr Martin, of Cashes Green, Stroud, but he died at the scene.

Paying tribute today to Mr Martin, his wife, Lorna said: “Paul was, and has been for the past 12 years, my entire everything. He was a fantastic husband and father and was completely besotted with our son and baby which is on its way.

“His other great loves in his life were his friends and his motorbike. He greatly enjoyed his job and had an extremely enthusiastic and competitive attitude to his role.

“All I now hope for is that his friends remember as much about him as possible and help me to keep his memory alive so that our children grow up knowing as much about him as they can and that they help me with the enormous challenge I have to create a life for them that he would be proud of.”

A British transport police spokesman said: “Officers from BTP attended the line at Frampton crossing following a report at 6.46pm on Sunday, 11 May, that a motorbike was in collision with a passenger train at the crossing.

“BTP officers attended alongside colleagues from Gloucestershire Police and Great Western Ambulance Service.

“The incident is currently being treated as non-suspicious. None of the 40 passengers on board the train were injured.

“An investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision and officers are assisting with the preparation of file for the coroner."
