CIRENCESTER College’s Young Enterprise students gained a massive seal of approval from the local business community at the Cirencester Chamber of Commerce Awards at the Royal Agricultural University.

TagVertise, which was commended for innovation at the Young Enterprise Area Finals in March, won the Award for Innovation in a very competitive category.

The student team behind TagVertise has developed a marketing agency utilising the power of NFC technology. This is a fairly new technology, which allows users of android devices to access additional information on a product or service at the swipe of a mobile phone.

Callum Gunston and George Dudman from TagVertise were there to collect their award at the ceremony on Friday night.

An extremely excited Callum said: "We really did not expect to win so this is a very proud moment for us. It has given us a confidence boost and shows that all out hard work this year is paying off."

Award sponsors Davey Law said: "TagVertise have come up with a product that is a clear innovation. The concept looked at existing technologies and saw a way to improve their application such that their potential could grow. There is a lot of work to do to grow this concept into a successful business, but the core of any success is a good idea and this is a very good place to start."

Cirencester’s other Young Enterprise team, WeCharge was also there on the night and both companies were able to network with Cirencester's business and enterprise leaders.

Course leader Hannah Clark was there to cheer them on and said: "I am so happy that TagVertise have been recognised on such a large stage. Their business idea is fantastic and is a business far bigger than the realms of Young Enterprise could assist them with. I have no doubt that this business will succeed, the scale for it is phenomenal."
