A BROADWAY artist will be drawing in the crowds this summer as he prepares to hold a London exhibition of over 50 British landscape paintings.

Tom Evetts, 24, from Broadway near Stow-on-the-Wold, will be holding Terra Firma from May 27 to June 1 this year in London.

The young artist, who celebrated a sell-out show last February, was inspired by a trip to Scotland's River Spey last July.

"It was a classic British summer," said Tom. "The weather was amazing and the light was wonderful, giving a great presence that enabled me to see colours with enormous clarity."

Tom developed a love of art at an early age, being taught by his grandfather. After finishing school he went to Italy where he was formally trained.

He then travelled to the south of France where he further developed his style.

Tom explained that his exhibition, Terra Firma, focuses on "land and sea" and features scenes from his recent trips to the Isle of Lewis in Scotland, the Pembrokeshire coast and Cornwall.

"The show doesn’t just focus on the far flung corners”, he said. "It also includes gypsy scenes from Seamer Horse Fair and images of London, Exmoor and Newmarket which are favourite haunts of mine.

"I am very excited about Terra Firma. Colour is my passion."

Tom's exhibition is at Gallery 8, Duke Street in London from May 27 to June 1 2014.
