TV'S Ben Fogle was a surprise visitor to this year's Fairford Food and Drink Festival.

Dozens of stalls sprang up in the town's Market Place for the event on Sunday showcasing some of the area's best food and drink producers.

Changeable weather meant the festival's hot food stalls were in great demand but there was plenty of sunshine to ensure visitors could sit and enjoy some of the samples on offer and the live entertainment that formed part of the day.

Presenter turned adventurer Ben Fogle was visiting the show with wife Marina and children Ludo and Iona.

He had been visiting the Cotswolds and said he was a huge fan of the region's fare.

"It's what a lot of people want," he said.

"There is a really big movement towards locally sourced food and this is such a great location for growing different produce."

The food festival attracted stall holders from all over the Cotswolds, from the Malmesbury-based Bow in the Cloud vineyard to Caterton's Compass Brewery, Cirencester's Cotswold Curer and young Cheltenham entrepreneur Frazer Bawtree of Frazer's Fudj.

Chris Roberts of organisers the Fairford and Lechlade Business Club said: "It's gone fantastically well and everyone has come out to support it.

"We have some amazing stalls - some new ones and some favourites which have returned."

Next door to the market and The Bull Hotel was busy throughout.

Landlord Ian Summers said the festival was a great boost for the town in general.

"There is a vibrancy about it which is great for community spirit, and it's good to see the market place being used for what it is meant to be used for."
