THE annual show of strength, grit and determination that is Tetbury Woolsack Races rolls into town at the end of this month.

Competitors demonstrate their strength as they heave traditional sacks of wool up the merciless Gumstool Hill in Tetbury which has sections with a 1:4 gradient.

It attracts entries from far and wide and features competitions for juniors, men and women, making it a spectacle for the whole family.

And there is plenty of other entertainment planned for this year.

The town celebrates with a street fair with street entertainers, local stalls and amusement rides. The many catering establishments in the town also join in to provide a very local fare for visitors.

Street entertainment will include Colin Dymond's Magic Show, street magic, Swindon Big Band and the Ilu Axe Samba Band.

Tetbury Woolsack Races takes place on Bank Holiday Monday, May 27. Entertainment takes place all day with the races starting at 2pm.

Entertainment also takes place on the Sunday, May 26, with the Grand Woolsack Auction at 2pm at the Snooty Fox.
