A TEENAGER was knocked to the ground and sexually assaulted in an attack by three men in Cheltenham.

Police are appealing for information after the sexual assault of 18-year-old woman some time between 11.30pm on Thursday, May 1, and 12am on Friday, May 2, on Brunswick Street.

Her ordeal only ended when she shouted at her attackers and they fled.

The 18-year-old victim was walking along Brunswick Street when she was approached by three men. One of the offenders pushed her to the ground and attempted to remove her clothes before sexually assaulted her.

The victim then shouted at the men to leave her alone, at which point they left her.

The men are described as white and aged in their 20s or 30s. One of the men had brown hair with stubble on his face. The second man had brown hair and the third man had very dark hair.

Detective Sergeant Peter Rowsell said: “We understand that this will be very worrying for the local community. We would reassure them that we are doing all we can to find these men and to bring them to justice.

“The community can help us with this investigation by thinking back to around 11.30pm-midnight if they were in the Brunswick Street area, perhaps driving or walking through the area on the way back from a night out.

“We’d ask anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area to please call us on 101, no matter how small or insignificant the information may seem.”

Anyone who may have information on this incident is asked to call Gloucestershire Police on 101, quoting incident number 3 of May 2.
