A CHARITY that provides dogs to help disabled people is set to benefit from a Cotswold wildlife centre’s dog show.

Proceeds from Cotswold Wildlife Park’s Scruffs Dog Show on May 10 will go towards Dogs for the Disabled (DFTD).

The event takes place at the centre’s base near Burford and classes include Best Biscuit Catcher, Best Hurdler, Waggiest Tail and Best in Show.

The show starts at 1.30pm and dog owners can register their pets from 10am at a cost of £2 per class – with all proceeds going towards the £3 million a year needed to run the Banbury based charity.

Prizes will be given for the winner of each class (goodie bags) and rosettes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

The overall winning dog’s owner will win a chance to adopt an animal as part of the Park's Animal Adoption Scheme as well as the Best in Show rosette.

DFTD’s services create exceptional partnerships between people living with disability and specially trained assistance dogs.

The charity receives no government funding and relies entirely on donations, fundraising and volunteers to continue its pioneering work.

To see the show, normal park admission prices apply (Adults £14, infants under three - free, 3-16 - £10, over 65 - £10).

Cotswold Wildlife Park houses one of the UK’s largest zoological collections and has some of the country’s most exciting gardens.
