SOUTH Cerney golf club members showed they were proud to be English through St George’s day celebrations last week.
The club held a scramble golf tournament that was followed by a traditional English meal which included fruit cake and sherry.
Val Loveday, ladies' captain at the club, who took part in the patriotic event said: “This is the first time we have celebrated St George’s Day. I love my country. We organised it because I cannot say that there is enough going on to celebrate it. There is a lot going on for St Patrick’s Day but not enough for St George’s.”
