THE new vicar in charge of the Northleach Benefice has said that moving to the Cotswolds is like returning home.

The Rev David Ford, who is currently based in the Nottinghamshire town of Hucknall, will become the vicar of the Church of St Peter and St Paul in Northleach in September.

As Priest in Charge of the Northleach Benefice, Mr Ford will also be responsible for seven other churches in the surrounding areas.

The Northleach Benefice is made up of Cold Aston, Compton Abdale, Farmington, Hampnett, Hasleton, Notgrove and Turkdean.

Mr Ford said: “Having lived relatively close to Northleach for 13 years, my wife Liz and I are very much looking forward to returning ‘home’.”

“It has been a privilege to minister in Hucknall for these past three years and we will be leaving with many fond memories of people, places and events.”

Mr Ford, who has two grown-up children, will replace the Rt Rev David Jennings, who was brought in as Interim Minister in 2013 following the retirement of Rev Dick Woodger.

He will be licensed in the Church of St Peter and St Paul in Northleach on Thursday, September 4 at 7.30pm.
