POLICE in Cheltenham are appealing for information after an attempted armed robbery at a shop in the town.

The incident happened at the store on St Pauls Road between 9.30pm and 9.45pm on Saturday, April 19.

The robber entered the shop with a weapon, believed to be a black handgun and asked the shopkeeper to hand over money.

The shopkeeper refused and attempted to fight back. At this point the robber ran off empty handed in the direction of Victoria Street.

No-one was injured.

The robber is described as white, male about 5ft 9ins tall and around 25-years-old. He was wearing a dark hooded top and a balaclava over his face.

Anyone with any information on this incident is asked to contact Gloucestershire Police on 101, quoting incident number 133 of April 20.
