CELEBRITY doctors from TV’s Embarrassing Bodies will be taking part in a charity bike ride through the Cotswold countryside this weekend.

Dr Pixie McKenna will join Gloucestershire-based GP Dr Dawn Harper on the Harvey 100 Star Cycle Challenge, a 100km cycle across the Cotswolds, on Sunday, April 27.

The pair will be cheered on by their co-host and fellow doctor Christian Jessen, who will show his support from the sidelines.

Hundreds of people from across the Cotswolds are expected to take part in the event, which goes through villages such as Chedworth, Quenington and Down Ampney, to raise money for the National Star College in Cheltenham.

Dr Dawn Harper told the Standard that she had no excuse for not taking part as the event is named after her son who suffers with cerebral palsy.

“I’m really looking forward to it this year, there are a couple of steep climbs but the challenge they present will be nothing compared to the challenges faced every day by the students at the Star College,” she said.

The college, which first started in 1967, was set up to help people with severe disabilities gain access to further education.

Dr Harper said: “Perhaps we will reflect on the students as we climb out of Cowley and Chedworth on Sunday.”

“It’s a beautiful route taking in some of the most beautiful countryside so I hope there will be a really good turnout.”

Anyone who would like to register for the ride can do so by calling 01242 or emailing fundraising@natstar.ac.uk.
