A MAN suffered life-threatening injuries after a car collided with a telegraph pole on the A38 in Twyning overnight.

The emergency services were called just before 3am today (Wednesday, April 23) after a red Renault Clio left the carriageway as it was travelling towards the M50.

A 23-year-old man from Tewkesbury who was in the car was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and then transferred to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol with life-threatening injuries.

A 20-year-old man from Tewkesbury also in the car was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital but is believed to have minor injuries.

The road was closed while a serious collision investigation was carried out but reopened shortly before 8am.

Anyone who witnessed the collision who has not spoken to police is urged to call 101, quoting incident 35 of April 23.
