THE success of Cirencester Children’s Literary Festival last year proved to be such a big hit with readers of all ages that organisers will be putting on literary evenings for adults this year.

The town’s second literary festival is returning for 2014 with two brand new events for adults as well a stack of entertainment and activities for children.

Cirencester’s first Lit Fest in 2013 was dubbed a huge success by residents and organisers.

Children and their families came from as far away as Cheltenham and queued up outside the door to meet authors, have their books signed and take part in crafts and games.

This year adults can enjoy their own selection of events, which includes a curry and cider pairing evening on Tuesday, July 29 and a discussion with travel writer Elizabeth Laird on Thursday, July 31.

Curry Memoirs author Ivor Peters is teaming up with Rory Souter of the Cotswold Cider Company to give cooking demonstrations, offer food and drink tastings, and book signings while travel writer Elizabeth Laird will be discussing her time in Ethiopia as well as signing copies of her book.

Both of the events will begin at 7.30pm and tickets will cost £5 with all proceeds going to the Bingham Library Trust.

There are a number of Children’s authors confirmed for this year’s festival, including The White Giraffe author Lauren St John, author of The History Keepers series Damian Dibben and writer and illustrator Liz Pichon.

The festival will be running from July 28 to August 2 and will be held either at Octavia’s Bookshop on Black Jack Street or at Cirencester Library.

Children can enjoy several hours of crafts, storytelling, book signing and other activities as part of the sessions.
