HARD working students in Cirencester will have their good grades rewarded with a scholarship from the Royal Agricultural University.

The Cirencester Scholarship, which first launched last year, will once again help high achieving local students with the cost of higher education at the RAU.

Three scholarships, two for new undergraduate students and one for new postgraduates, will be made available, each offering a fee waiver of £3,000 per year.

Over the course of three years, a typical undergraduate student will receive a scholarship worth around £9,000.

Students starting in September and who live or have studied within a 10 mile radius of the university will be able to apply for the scheme.

Agricultural student Hannah Miles, who won the scholarship last year, said the financial backing of the university has motivated her to succeed.

“It enables me to push myself. The scholarship has instilled in me a sense of worthiness and I wake up every morning and think ‘I can do this,’” she said.

In order to receive the scholarship, prospective students must be able to show academic excellence, leadership and motivation to succeed.

Currently the RAU offers more than 30 different degree programmes in subjects ranging from business management to real estate.
