TWO teenagers have been jailed for their part in an armed robbery in which a woman cashier was threatened with a knife.

Ryan Mills and Dylan Gaffey were both aged 17 when they went to the Murco filling station on Oxford Road in Calne at 9.30pm on August 27 last year, wearing hoods and with their faces covered.

Gaffey brandished a knife and told the assistant to fill a bag wish cash and cigarettes. The pair got away with £500 and a large amount of cigarettes, but a search with a police dog and helicopter netted Mills and the knife close by. Gaffey was arrested the following morning.

Gaffey from Cloatley Crescent, Royal Wootton Bassett was sentenced to two years and four months, while Mills of Broken Cross, Calne was given two years.

Det Cons Tom Allen from Melksham CID said: “This was a particularly frightening incident where the offenders have picked on a lone female working late at night.”
