LECHLADE Festival organisers have been invited to a winners' reception at the House of Lords next month to hear if they have secured a prestigious award.
The annual event held in Lechlade has been crowned champion of the Midlands region in the Countryside Alliance Awards.
The team heard that they were finalists in the Start Up Award category at the beginning of 2014 and received a visit from judges who looked at how the music festival works with the Lechlade community and also how it supports local businesses.
Lechlade Festival is one of 10 regional finalists from across the UK who are invited to a winners’ reception at the House of Lords next month, where the overall winner will be announced.
Festival Director Jennie Rainsford said: "I can’t describe how thrilled and proud we are. The team and all our volunteers work so hard to put on this family event and we’re passionate about involving and supporting the community. We’re hoping the whole team will be able to attend the reception."
Lechlade Festival, which is in its fourth year, takes place from May 23-25 2014 and will see over 80 bands taking part. The family-friendly event offers free workshops all weekend and camping on site at the Riverside Park venue.
Tickets are £57 for the whole weekend with children under 16 going free.
