Problem parking in Cirencester's Forum Car Park

Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard: The car parked in one of the old bays in the Forum Car Park The car parked in one of the old bays in the Forum Car Park

ACCESS to part of the Forum Car Park in Cirencester was blocked earlier today after a car was mistakenly parked in the middle of the road.

Motorists struggled to get out of the car park due to the 4x4 being parked in a space that was no longer in use.

The Forum Car Park recently underwent refurbishments with new parking bays being printed on the ground.

Despite this, the lines of the old spaces are still clearly visible and causing problems for drivers.

Although the owner of the 4x4 had paid to park in the car park, a CDC traffic warden issued the vehicle with a ticket.

Whilst it may be hard to believe the 4x4 owner could not differentiate between the old and new marked bays, the fact that the old bays are still clearly visible seems to me like a good basis for appealing the parking ticket.

Totally agree.

The owner of the car bought a ticket .... parked in an area marked for parking.

No problem here.

Cotswold District Council must have run out of white wash paint (perhaps all used up on the Water Park fraud scandal?)

This morning they've had another go at obliterating the old lines, and painting on the traffic flow arrows to hopefully prevent a repeat of this debacle.
