A MOTORCYCLE fan who had four of his lovingly restored vintage machines stolen in a burglary was devastated to be told two of them had been found destroyed by fire.

Wiltshire Police are appealing for information on the theft which happened early yesterday at the garage of a house in Kennet Avenue, Greenmeadow, Swindon.

The 83-year-old owner had spent years renovating the bikes, which date back to 1954.

One was found nearby with a small amount of damage but the fourth machine, a 1962 grey NSU Quickly moped is still missing.

PCSO Emma Harriman said: "This is clearly very upsetting for the owner of the bikes who has spent a number of years lovingly restoring them.

"To have found out that two of the bikes had been burnt out and destroyed has really upset him.

"I am hoping that someone out there in our community has information on this incident and may know where this final bike is.”

She urged anyone with information to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
