HORSE LOVERS can learn more about how to care for their equine friends with a health care evening at the Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester.

Insurance provider Petplan Equine has teamed up with charity Blue Cross to host a lower limb lameness evening for anyone interested in this common condition.

The evening will be presented by former winner of the Petplan Equine Vet of the Year award, Gil Riley (pictured) who will focus on the key causes of lower limb lameness and how to avoid it.

“Lower limb lameness is the single most important cause of being unable to work and compete our horses, but there is much we can do to prevent it occurring,” said Gil, who is Staffordshire-based.

“The better aware we horse owners are about this, the more we can reduce the risk of our horse being afflicted.”

Entry is free, with donations being taken for the Blue Cross.

The talk takes place on Thursday, March 20, at 7pm at RAU. Book via equinesocial@petplan.co.uk
