A FANTASTIC French dinner raised over £1,000 for two charitable causes last weekend.

Cirencester restaurant Le Beaujolais, Castle Street, was packed on Friday, March 6 as diners raised money for two worthwhile causes.

The dinner was in aid of Eleanor Clarke who is trekking across 3,500 kilometres of Nepal with fellow Cirencester Deer Park students in April.

It also supported the charity Wiggly Worm, which promotes better eating among parents and children and strives to use food for change.

Providing entertainment at the event was Tweedy the Clown from Gifford’s Circus and 16-year-old Tetbury singer and musician Lucy Rees.

There was also a raffle and an auction during the evening to further raise funds.

In April, 21 Deer Park School students will be trekking across Nepal to help young school children. Each student needs to raise £2,000 to get there.
