A MOBILE games company gave a royal visitor a sneak preview of a brand new and top secret app when he came to visit Cirencester last week.

HRH The Duke of Kent visited Neon Play last Thursday to meet the team and to get a glimpse of Neon Play’s latest project.

After arriving by helicopter in Cirencester Park, The Duke was greeted by Lord Lieutenant for Gloucestershire Dame Janet Trotter and Lady Bathurst before being taken to the Neon Play office at the Old Museum.

Dame Janet said it was wonderful to see the Duke of Kent land in the historic Cirencester Park before being taken straight into the 21st century with a tour of Neon Play’s ultramodern offices.

He was welcomed at the door by Neon Play founders Mark Allen and Oli Christie, the chief executive.

Also present were High Sheriff of Gloucestershire Hugh Tollemache, chairman of Gloucestershire County Council Cllr Tony Hicks, chairman of Cotswold District Council Sir Edward Horsfall, and Cirencester Mayor Cllr Joe Harris.

Oli gave the Duke a tour of the modern and colourful office and explained in detail what each employee was working on. He also gave the royal visitor a sneak peak at a new game in development, which is closely-guarded secret.

The Duke is said to be keen on technology and divulged during the tour that he uses an iPad.

“This has so far been a largely closed world for me and it’s been a very interesting day,” he said. “Especially seeing how Neon Play has achieved so much in such a short amount of time.”

Oli said the whole team was “very honoured” at the visit and he paid tribute to his staff.

“Without them, nothing is possible,” he added. “We are very fortunate to have such a talented and fun bunch working here.”
