ONE Cirencester pooch will be cast into the limelight this week when he competes in renowned dog competition Crufts.

Dobermann Cruz, who is three years old, is entering in the Limit category and is all too familiar with the Crufts, having competed several times in the past few years.

Cruz sailed through qualifying for the competition, notching up several high places, including three top 1st place wins – which means he has qualified for Crufts for life.

Danii Marsden, who jointly owns Cruz with her partner Scott Harrington, said: “We are hoping to get a place but at the end of the day we are just so proud of him even getting to Crufts that we will just enjoy the day. He has many positive attributes, but no matter what, in our eyes we are taking home the most handsome dog. Just like everyone else feels about their dog."

Cruz is known for his mild-mannered temperament, being extremely loving and loves being around children.

In his first year at Crufts in 2012 Cruz was entered into the Yearling category and came 4th.

He was bought in 2011 from Newford Dobermanns by Danni after she fell in love with him when she picked him up and he fell asleep on his back in her arms.

Danii added: “Living in the Cotswolds now, he is over the moon as it means he gets much longer and more beautiful walks. With that and an endless supply of cuddles - he's happy.”

Crufts is taking place at the NEC in Birmingham tomorrow (Thursday, March 6) until Sunday, March 10.
