MINIONS and Angry Birds-themed bobble hats could put children at risk of strangulation, Wiltshire trading standards officers have warned.
The hats made in China, are fastened with extensions that involve passing one through a loop in the other. But they say: “This design means that there is no means for the extensions to disconnect and there is the potential for strangulation.”
A total of 40 of the hats, costing between £5 and £10, have already been seized. Market operators have been advised and council officers are visiting markets to ensure all the hats are remobed from sale.
Wiltshire Council is urging people who have already bought the hats to report it to trading standards on 0845 4040506 as soon as possible.
