CASH stolen which was dumped following an opportunistic heist at a Cheltenham Bookmakers has gone missing.
Several hundred pounds was stolen from the Ladbrokes in Rotunda Terrace, Montpellier Street, Cheltenham shortly before 3pm on Thursday, February 20.
A man jumped over the counter and took the money from an open till before making off but the thief was seen dumping the money as he fled.
It is thought the cash was discarded in public view in an alleyway that runs between Parabola Road and Malvern Road at around 3.10pm.
But police say the money has not turned up.
Officers warned that anyone who has found it and failed to hand it in could face prosecution.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen this cash and know of its whereabouts to ring 101 quoting incident 245 of February 20.
A police spokesman said: "People are reminded that everyone should take reasonable steps to return money found in the streets. In this case, due to the amount, reasonable steps would be to hand it into their local police station.
"Failure to take those steps could result in an offence being committed, so please do the right thing and don't be tempted to profit from this crime."
- A 24-year-old Cheltenham man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and has been bailed to return to Cheltenham Police Station on March 1, pending inquiries.
