An appeal is launched by the RSPCA to raise £2.5 million in order to build a state-of-the-art animal centre.

As the South Cotswolds RSPA launches ambitious plans to build The Cotswold Dogs and Cats Home, a rescue home for abandoned, neglected and abused animals, it hopes that animal lovers in the community will get involved in the project and support the appeal.

The rescue home is set to occupy a six acre site belonging to the branch just outside the village of Cambridge in the Cotswolds. The building will be purpose built with the intention of re-homing animals and to allow the charity to care for 750 vulnerable animals within the Gloucestershire region annually.

“We are seeking individuals and groups who would be willing to help raise funds for this amazing project. Raising the £2.5 million is a big task but we have a fantastic local community and really need all out animal lovers to get behind the project and help us fundraise.” Community Fundraiser for the RSPCA South Cotswolds Branch, Jodie Thomson, goes on to explain ways in which everyone can support the project through fundraising: “Whether it’s volunteering at a large event, holding a coffee morning, running a marathon or sitting in a bath of baked beans we’d love to hear from them.”

Private boarding is currently used by the branch in order to re-home animals; however the capacity for space is limited and in turn has resulted in many animals in the area not being taken in. The Cotswold Dogs and Cats Home is set to change to change the way in charity works and will also increase the number of animals they can help within the local community.“Once built, the home will benefit the entire community for generations to come,” continues Jodie.

Raising the £2.5 million is a community effort and needs all the help it can get as the branch does not receive financial help from the national RSPCA in regards to the project.
