STUDENTS from the Royal Agricultural College demonstrated the effect of their pulling power this week by hauling a tractor through the streets of Cirencester.

The tractor pull was just one of the events being put on by the students as part of the university’s annual Raising and Giving Week.

The RAG Week gives students the opportunity to come together and raise money for charities such as the Prince’s Countryside Fund and the Ellen MacArthur Trust.

Millie Mantle, chairman of the university’s student union, said that RAG Week is an important highlight in the students’ calendars.

“Supporting a charity for Rag Week is a long term commitment and one we do not take on lightly. RAG Week is an essential part of the RAU tradition and one that we are proud to put on and promote.” she said.

“The students never fail to reach into their pockets for charity and we’re sure this year will be no different.”

Other activities that the students have taken part in over the course of the week include a charity auction, clay pigeon shooting and a gala dinner.

Students are said to be eager to beat the £22,000 that was raised during the activities of the 2013 Rag Week.
