A DAD from Cirencester with a serious fear of heights will take on the ultimate test by throwing himself out of an aeroplane at 12,000ft.

Chas Latham, who works as a team leader in the Chesterton branch of Tesco, hopes to raise money for local housing charity Chyp by confronting his fear with a once in a lifetime skydive.

The 29-year-old, who was given the skydive as a present, told the Standard that he wanted to turn the jump into something that will benefit others.

“I chose Chyp after hearing a lot of really good feedback from the Tesco customers. A lot of people have said how brilliant it is,” he said.

He also has personal links with the charity after revealing that his brother had required its services many years ago.

With just over a month to go before he takes to the skies, Chas has been gearing himself up by watching online videos of people who have jumped before.

“I do have quite a big fear of flying. I’m ok at the moment but the more I think about it the more I worried I become,” he said.

Chas, who has already collected £100 in donations, hopes that his daredevil stunt will raise around £600 for the Cirencester-based charity.

Collection buckets will be left in the Chesterton branch of Tesco for anyone who wants to donate.
