STRONG winds are affecting areas Gloucestershire today and the Met Office has asked people to be prepared for disruption.

The strong weather has prompted the Met Office to issue a yellow weather warning this morning for Gloucestershire.

Gusts are expected of up to 60mph in the county today.

Already the A419 between Stroud and Cirencester has been closed this morning due to an overhanging tree.

The A40 near Dowdeswell Reservoir, east of Cheltenham is also partially blocked due to a fallen tree. Police said to expect delays until the road is cleared.

Earlier on Twitter Batsford Aboretum in Moreton-in-Marsh announced that the arboretum would be closed today due to the very strong winds forecast. Staff said the cafe, garden centre and gift shop will be open as normal though.
