Didmarton 4
Avonvale Utd 5
A JAMIE PACKER hat-trick gave Avonvale the edge in a nine-goal thriller against derby rivals Didmarton.
For the second game running, Vale struggled defensively to contain their opposition.
Although Vale took the lead through a fine goal by George Robinson, Didmarton continued to apply pressure and were rewarded when a strike during a goalmouth scramble brought them back into the game.
The hosts continued to press and went into the break 2-1 up.
Vale’s Packer brought the teams back level soon after the break, but for the next 20 minutes it was all Didmarton and they pulled 4-2 ahead. All looked lost for Vale, but with outstanding determination and drive they started to play some of their renowned passing football.
Packer then netted his second goal before Liam Lavis added the equaliser.
With minutes to go it looked as though the points would be shared but the prolific Packer completed his hat-trick to secure a fine 5-4 win.
