A NEW foodie event at Batsford Arboretum is giving visitors the chance to learn how to ‘grow their own soup’.
The Garden Terrace Café at the arboretum in Moreton-in-Marsh will be serving a different soup each day in early February, and everyone who takes part will be given a free packet of seeds and a recipe card showing people how ‘to grow’ their own version of the soup they have eaten.
On Saturday, February 8, the café’s head chef will host a masterclass to teach visitors how to ‘grow their own soup’.
This event forms part of the Bite 2014 Food Festival which runs from Monday to Sunday, February 3-9, from 12-3pm, with the masterclass running from 5-7pm.
Call 01386 701441 to book tickets, costing £5 each, for the Grow Your Own Masterclass.
Soups being served across the week with a free packet of seeds and recipe card are:
- Monday, February 3: Roast squash, sage and crispy pancetta
- Tuesday 4: Tuscan tomato with veg and mixed beans
- Wednesday 5: Pea and mint with ham and gruyere croutons
- Thursday 6: French onion soup with parmesan croutons
- Friday 7: Carrot, cumin and coriander soup.
