POLICE have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to about at least four 'card trapping' incidents at cash machines in Gloucestershire.

At a bank in Bath Road, Cheltenham, card trapping equipment was used to keep customers' cards and a recording device was used to log PIN numbers.

The offender withdrew around £1,000 on the cards in the Coventry area so officers are urging anyone there or anyone in Gloucestershire who recognises the man in the images to call 101, quoting crime 8663/13.

The man was also captured on CCTV near the scene of three other similar incidents wearing distinctive grey Voi or Voi-style jeans with a "V" motif on the back of the trouser legs.

PC Annabel Brittain said: "We really want to identify this man so I would appeal to everyone to have a good look. Do you know him? If so call Gloucestershire police on 101 and ask for me.

"We're working hard to increase people's awareness of this type of crime and have several people going through the courts at the moment.

"However the best way to guard yourself against it is to be vigilant and just take an extra bit of time at the cash machine, checking for any unusual devices or anything that seems out of the ordinary.

"Many of these offenders use cameras to record your PIN, so always cover it when you type it in."
