Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard: Cotswold District Council sends out warning to residents to be wary of cold callers Cotswold District Council sends out warning to residents to be wary of cold callers

COTSWOLD District Council (CDC) is warning people to be on their guard following reports of phone calls to residents from a man pretending to represent it.

CDC has been told by residents that the man is claiming he is a member of the council and is asking people to confirm their name and address, before seeking answers to a survey.

The Council confirmed the only surveys it is conducting are web-based consultations on its 2014-15 budget plans and also on the re-sale of properties.

None of these surveys involve any officers phoning the public.

If you receive an unexpected call from someone claiming to be a Council officer, you can phone 01285 623000 to receive confirmation of their credentials.
