COTSWOLD District Council (CDC) is warning people to be on their guard following reports of phone calls to residents from a man pretending to represent it.

CDC has been told by residents that the man is claiming he is a member of the council and is asking people to confirm their name and address, before seeking answers to a survey.

The Council confirmed the only surveys it is conducting are web-based consultations on its 2014-15 budget plans and also on the re-sale of properties.

None of these surveys involve any officers phoning the public.

If you receive an unexpected call from someone claiming to be a Council officer, you can phone 01285 623000 to receive confirmation of their credentials.
