BUSINESS students at Cirencester College have been given a sneak peek into one of the county’s fastest growing companies.

Chief operating officer at Cheltenham-based fashion clothing chain SuperGroup Susanne Given came to the Sundial Theatre at the college to speak to more than 100 students about the business, developing the SuperGroup brand, operational issues and growth strategies.

Cirencester College lecturer in business and economics Ian McLarty said the talk had touched upon many aspects of the A-Level business syllabus.

"Given that students are given credit in their exam for using real businesses examples it was a veritable goldmine of usefulness,” he said.

The seminar, also attended by students from Archway School in Stroud, is an annual educational event hosted by Cirencester company Charles Stanley.

A-Level business student at the college Jake Archer said he found the talk enjoyable: “It put into context a lot of what we learn in class and it was great to listen to how a large company operates.”

The seminar aims to provide students with an understanding of the link between clients and companies and help them gain practical knowledge they might not get from the classroom.
