ASPIRING graffiti artists are being encouraged to enter a competition that would see their artwork permanently displayed in Cirencester’s new skate park.

The competition, which has been created by Cirencester-based company B and B Innovations, will see budding Banksys decorate a bespoke bin that will take pride of the place at the new Kingshill skate plaza.

Renate Bagust, director of B and B Innovations, said: “We’re from Cirencester and have lived here for about 25 years. We absolutely love the town and its young people and we really just wanted to give something back to it.”

After talking through the idea with Gaz Parsons, owner of skate shop Decimal, and Cirencester Town Council’s chief executive Andrew Tubb, Renate set about providing a blank Top Cat bin, similar to those in the cartoon, for the artists to design.

She said: “Our bins are very bespoke. We wanted to do something a bit different and have people come up with a design that would look good in the skate park.

“This is a great opportunity for somebody to create something that is truly unique.”

All the entries will be judged by a panel of local experts, including Gaz Parsons, who are looking for something that stands out from the crowd.

Designs must be submitted by Monday, January 13 with the winner being announced on Friday, January 17.

Entrants must live within a 15 mile radius of Cirencester, be enthusiastic about graffiti and be aged 16 or over.
